The staff of the Great Lakes Region (North) Summer Encampment is pleased to announce that Maj Gen Amy S. Courter, CAP National Commander, has confirmed that she will be present at our Encampment to serve as the Reviewing Officer of our closing Pass-in-review ceremony. Additionally, Gen Courter will present the Graduation address to our cadets and senior members. Her presence will be certain to bring an extra-special closing to the week, and she is looking forward to seeing our cadets in action!
Maj Gen Courter has served as the National Commander of Civil Air Patrol since August of 2008. Previously she has served as Interim National Commander, and National Vice Commander. Let's give it our all to show our National Commander the best of the tradition of excellence that we share at Alpena! |

Hi Everyone, Sorry for the delay in getting 'The Encampment Store' up and running. I believe there's an adage that says something like 'Good things take time...and this is a real good thing!', or something like that, but I digress. :-) So, without further ado, please click the link in the top menu entitled, 'ENCAMPMENT STORE - PAY ONLINE'. This will take you to 'The Encampment Store' which is embedded on this website. If anyone has a problem viewing the web store this way, feel free to click the following link to go directly to the store, http://miwgencampmentstore.weebly.com I hope many of you find this functionality useful, if you do, please let me or someone else on encampment command staff know! Thank you. Best Regards, Mark L. Curtis, 1st Lt, CAP Webmaster & Photo/Videographer 2009 GLR-N/Michigan Wing Encampment

Welcome to the encampment website! I hope everyone is making their way over to the registration link and getting all their paperwork turned in. This year's encampment is going to be a memorable one. I would like to take a few lines to introduce myself and my staff. I am C/Capt Geoff Gloceri, the cadet Wing Commander of the encampment. My job is to supervise all of the basic cadets and my staff throughout the planning stages and the duration of encampment. I have been in Civil Air Patrol for almost 9 years and have attended 6 encampments. My Deputy Wing Commander is C/Maj Bernadette Bacero. She is in charge of supervising the squadron staff and ensuring that communication is flowing smoothly throughout the chain of command. My Executive Officer is C/2d Lt Michelle Neuville. Her job is overseeing all of the inspections and planning the graduation 'Pass In Review' parade that will happen at the end of the week. My staff and I have been busy working since December to make this year's encampment a success. We have a lot of neat activities planned for you. Some of the highlights of the week may include an orientation flight in a glider and a powered aircraft, rappelling, a weapons demonstration by USAF Security Forces, a fire demonstration by the USAF Firefighters, and many other things that you can't do anywhere else. My basic encampment was in 2002 and it was the best experience in Civil Air Patrol that I had ever had. It is what made me continue to stay in the program and advance my leadership and stay motivated. I would not be here right now if I didn't attend my basic encampment. At times the days will seem long and tough, but I assure you, by the end of the week you will not want to go home. You will meet cadets from all around the state and all around the country. You will make friendships that will last for a lifetime and have experiences you will never forget. I urge each and every one of you to attend this year's encampment and make it the highlight of your summer and your CAP career. Like most people who have attended multiple encampment say, come join us back home in Alpena this summer. We’re looking forward to having you! |
